1. Say Thanks
Say thank you before you ask your supporters to give again. Tell them what their past support has made possible. Consider setting up an automated thank you email series and send multiple thank you messages throughout the giving season.
Thank your supporters for taking action, signing petitions, calling their elected officials, volunteering, and all the other things you have asked them to do this past year besides give. Tell them what a difference they make. Consider having your donors sign an email to thank other donors.
2. Make It Easy to Give
Everyone is BUSY. The quicker and easier you make giving, the more you will raise.
Think mobile giving—as 40% to 60% of your year-end action is likely to happen on phones and tablets. With EveryAction, all your forms and emails are mobile ready always.

3. A Photo Can Do a Lot
Sometimes the easiest way to show your best achievements is with a well-chosen photo. A good photo doesn’t need much text to be effective. It just needs to make your donors feel good. The image below is from World Central Kitchen, and it shows the impact of their work providing over 1 million meals in Puerto Rico!
4. Ask Well
Don’t ask people to give because it is #Giving Tuesday or Year-End. Ask them to give to what is near and dear to their hearts. Ask them to help, save, change, rebuild, empower, eradicate, or protect the people, animals, places, or things that mean a lot to them.
5. Do More Than Just Ask
Don’t just send appeals to your supporters. Remind them why they love your organization. Give them something to talk about or share with others. Delight them.
The Union of Concerned Scientists sent this powerful image and email reminding their supporters of the important values they uphold every day.
6. Use Social to Increase Your $
Target a Facebook ad (or other social media favorite) to those who are getting your email or mailed Year-End appeal. Carry an image across your appeal and ad. You are likely to see a 10% to 20% bump in gifts.
7. Ask Your Sustainers to Upgrade
During Year-End ask your sustainers to upgrade. “Can you give a little more in 2018?” Use your donor self-service portal to enable sustainers to set up their increased monthly amounts.
You can also ask sustainers to make a 13th gift in 2017.
8. Better Target Your Message
Right person, right message, right time is the key to getting donors to give. Use create-a-list to segment on more than recency, frequency, and average gift. Add activist codes, past messages, email engagement, and any number of other behavior points besides giving history to better inspire your donors to give.
9. Give Them More of What They Want
Segment your donors by how they are most likely to interact with your organization. Not sure what that is? Set up engagement points to reveal how your supporter is most likely to engage with you.
10. Acquire New Donors
For some organizations, year-end is the ideal time to acquire new donors and Facebook is the right place to find them. Use our Facebook integration tools to set up a look-alike file to find more donors.
