    December 7, 2016

EOY (or end-of-year) fundraising can be a critical time for nonprofits. The giving spirit is high, and donors want to know how they can contribute to the causes that they care about. Your organization needs to do more than simply ask your donors for contributions. You need to create personal, targeted appeals that show donors how they fit into your fundraising and how their gifts impact the recipients of your aid. Building a deeper fundraising strategy can help you: Raise more funds. Retain more donors. Fuel more engagement. The best way to reach your donors in meaningful ways is to look into your donor database or CRM and analyze the data that you have. Your data, after all, provides insight into your donors. To use your data to innovate your fundraising strategy, you can: Perform prospect research Identify corporate connections Pay attention to politics Perfect your pitch Personalize your outreach Let’s take a look at each in more detail - use the links above to jump to a particular section!

3 Simple Email Improvements to Make More Money During EOY Fundraising

    August 11, 2016

This post originally appeared in NTEN's July Connect newsletter We’re just over halfway through 2016 and, if we’ve learned anything so far, it’s that online fundraising has really found its stride in the nonprofit sector. In fact, according to the annual Benchmarks report from NTEN and M+R, email fundraising revenue alone increased by a whopping 25% last year, outpacing the overall growth of other online revenue sources. Great news, right? So all is well and the end-of-year (EOY) fundraising push should be more profitable than ever! But what if I told you that bad email deliverability practices could be dragging down your EOY campaign before it even begins? Let’s take a look at some newly released nonprofit email deliverability findings and find out what you can do to reduce fundraising revenue losses simply by sending better email.

Having a detailed strategic plan in place before embarking on a fundraising campaign can be a huge determinant of its success, even before the first dollar is raised. But it isn’t enough to have a rough idea of messaging, an incomplete timeline, some scheduled tweets, and an arbitrary fundraising goal.  The best fundraising strategic plan tells a complete, organized, and analytics-based story that your team can actually use to help your campaign be more successful. We created this guide to help you build just that.

Some organizations see a lot of supporter engagement with periodic newsletters: a recent study showed that over half of participants got news about their favorite organizations or causes from regular newsletters, and just under a quarter of respondents said they often forwarded on newsletters to family and friends. If your nonprofit is seeing less-than-desirable returns on the time and resources put into its newsletter, it may be that newsletters aren't the best medium for your audiences. This doesn't mean you should scrap the operation entirely, but there are likely some serious adjustments that need to be made.
